Druids Bound for Greensboro, NC, for Next Stop on Summer 2012 Itinerary

After a successful start to the summer 2012 season earlier this month with a third-place finish at the “Blue Plum” sevens in Johnson City, Tennessee, the Druids continue their summer 2012 season with a visit to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Triad Sevens Saturday, 23 June.

With three tournaments under their belts since the new team was founded in late 2011, the Druids have finished in the top four in all of their appearances to date but have yet to win a final. The Druids will look to nab that first cup in North Carolina, but a strong field of teams from around North Carolina and Virginia stands in the way.

The Greensboro stop will feature a mix of Druids regulars and a few new faces on the invitational side, as well as a mix of veterans and players relatively new to rugby. This week’s team includes players representing three universities as well as players who have run out for a range of school, age-grade, and senior men’s clubs in years past. Priority one for the weekend will be getting the team a quality experience and the chance for players to learn from working with teammates from a range of backgrounds, but a strong finish would be a nice reward as well.
